Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award Ceremony Highlights!

We gathered on February 22nd 2013 to celebrate a birthday for a special girl, Charlotte Bacon. We also gathered to honor our children of Newtown and our children of the world. At Newtown Kindness, we believe that kindness should be a guiding principle of humanity. We had received so many amazing submissions from kind and caring young children during the first annual Charlotte Bacon Act of Kindness Award program. In the above video, you will see some of the highlights from our first of many ceremonies.  We hope you enjoy it.  We encourage you to share it.

Joel is the father of two children, Guy and Charlotte, and husband to JoAnn. Joel is a Sr. Project Manager in Development & Engineering for ASML based in Wilton, CT. Education: PhD in Physics from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from Gordon University. In his spare time, Joel enjoys trail running, hiking, and gardening. Joel’s favorite things to do with both Charlotte and Guy were attending family classes at Tae Kwon Do and working on small engineering projects around the house.

After Charlotte died, Joel and I were underwater with grief. We would fight to the surface and gulp air, only to be dragged under again. It was a cycle that would repeat over and over. There were times we were not sure how long it could continue. Would we make it? Well, the grief continues, but we are not underwater or washed ashore; instead, we support others who find themselves in murky water.

Helping Veterinary Students Achieve their Dreams

December 22nd, 2022

We had no idea that what we wrote in Charlotte's obituary would provide an opportunity to see her dream of becoming a "doggy doctor" come alive in others. Our loving tribute to her life shared that she had dreams of being a veterinarian from a very young age, and this caught the attention of North Carolina School of Veterinary Medicine.
