Ryan woke up very early on 12-15 and got on the computer, ultimately designing a bracelet that could be sold to raise money to help the victim’s families and others. Ryan initially ordered 5,000 bracelets, and those were sold out plus another 4,000 by the New Year. Ryan and his family spent countless hours shipping bracelets all over the country, since he harnessed the power of the internet to help with his fundraising. Ryan decided to give the money he raised to a local organization, Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families. Healing Hearts is an organization through Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT that “offers bereavement support to those who are grieving the death of a loved one. In order to make this happen, Ryan decided to form an organization with six of his friends, called K.I.D.O., which stands for Kids In Deed Organization. The organization’s purpose is to raise the $50,000 needed for Healing Hearts, and continue to help fund their good work.
