Founded by Alexa Grabelle in 2011 at age 10, Bags of Books has supplied 100,000 books to underprivileged children of all ages to take home and keep to kick-start their own home libraries. At Bags of Books distribution events, students shop for a bag full of free books of their choice at “pop-up” stores. Bags of Books combats illiteracy, fosters a love of reading, and helps level the playing field for low-income children by providing them with quality books of their choice. Alexa loves seeing the smiles on students’ faces when they receive books from her organization.
